Where I Work

My psychotherapy practice has been based in Sleights and Sandsend Medical Practice, at Sleights, near Whitby, for the last 17 years. I see private clients, NHS patients referred by GPs, and people referred by other outside agencies for a variety of reasons – for example occupational health.

How I Work

How I work depends to a great extent on what a you need, what challenges you are facing and how you feel when you step into the room and say hello: what brought you to see me.

I trained in integrative psychotherapy. This approach draws on (and integrates) a range of skills and practices from different schools of psychotherapy.

This way of working allows people to benefit from a “best fit” approach rather than “one size fits all”, and takes into account the differences in people, their needs, their life circumstances and their goals.

Safe and Ethical Practice

I undertaking regular clinical and professional supervision and guidance to monitor my practice and ensure I meet professional and ethical standards. I also undertake regular training to ensure I keep up to date with practice and developments, and can deliver effective and evidence based practice. This is part of meeting the standards for registration and practice and abiding by the ethical guidelines set out by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy, The northern Guild for Psychotherapy and Counselling, and the Health and Care Professionals Council.

Fees

My fees are £45 per session – sessions last 50 minutes. Initial meeting and consultation fee is £30.
